Some risks may be difficult for children to recognise or resist. Keeping them out of the environment removes the exposure rather than asking them to manage it.
Parents can set boundaries, monitor use and step in when something goes wrong. This keeps access while retaining adult oversight.
Children eventually have to navigate difficult social situations, misinformation and pressure themselves. Learning to deal with these risks can be part of growing up.
Some risks come from how platforms are designed, not simply from what children choose to do. Changing recommendations, notifications and other features could reduce exposure without putting the whole burden on children or parents.
